Defaulting the security settings didn't work

Hi Support

Can you please assist me with trying to find documentation on defaulting the security settings on an Avaya ip500 V2 on release 9.0.0.829

I have tried using the standard DTE method by connecting to the back of the system and setting up hyper terminal.

The issue I encountered was it reset the admin password on the config but didn’t reset the security settings.

Is there something different that needs doing that I am not aware of?

A bit of background information behind the customers system it was installed by BT, do you know or have you ever heard of anything different they do to configure the security settings to make them extra secure to stop the DTE from working?

If so can you suggest a way around this?

Hi yes using hyper terminal, AT-SECURITYRESETALL

I am trying not to flatten the PBX so if you can think of any other way it would be much appreciated.

DTE is one of the more rock solid features, performed correctly it always work.

But if you managed to reset the pwds, why don't you use Manager to default the security settings?
File> Advanced> Erase Security Settings...

The issue with that method is we do not have the security password BT are very reluctant to pass it on and you need the security password to File> Advanced> Erase Security Settings...

can you think of another way around this?

Well, there's always the reset button at the back, hold it for 35 sec and you have flattened the chassis 100%.

Keep in mind that this will take out the config as well, so you need to have a copy of that at hand, sending it back to the system when back up from reboot.
LAN1 will be 192.168.42.1 after this procedure.

The security defaults on a BT system are slightly different. Sounds like the DTE worked, it reset the Administrator password after all. However, the default BT password for the 'security' user is different. What is the level of software on the system? In later builds you can get into the security settings using the Administrator user account.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Thank you for you comment, I can access the security settings via File_Advanced_ security settings while in the config as it is on 9.0.0.829. the issue comes with making any changes on the security settings in order to save it you need the security password, I am very surprised the DTE didn't work as this has been done countless amounts of times with no issue.

Is there anything else you can think of without having to flatten the PBX as that is the last resort.

Just tried to login to my server edition (9.1.1) using the Administrator login details and it says Access Denied

BT does Server editions too? (OP has BT branded IPO and according to Sizbut, these have a slightly different default security settings than the untouched stuff)
