We have an Avaya S8500/G650 setup. My stations all have a default outgoing caller ID (xxx-xxx-0150). Where is that set? Does the circuit provider set that, or is it a setting in Avaya - if Avaya, how do I see it/control it?

I've often used public-unknown-numbering to control the outgoing caller id when I don't want the default one for a particular station - but, I've always been curious as to how/where the default one is set. Thanks!

The provider is sending it. If you want to send something else and the provider allows that, you will have to use public-unknown or private numbering with your trunk-group programming.

list trace TAC xx will show the outgoing call and what (name and number) the switch is sending if you switch is programmed correctly. Keep in mind the trunk provider controls what they allow or don't allow you to send.

If you see the correct name and number going out with list trace station or TAC and you call a phone with callerID and see something different than the list trace output, the provider will have to be contacted to make changes.

A great teacher, does not provide answers, but methods to teach others "How and where to find the answers"
