Actually, I have found the best way to turn D-Channel Monitoring off once you turn it on if you have a really busy switch is to just Reset it. OK, thats not funny, really I just type the commands without watching the screen because that WILL mess you up. As long as you type the command correctly, no matter how much other stuff the switch prints, it will take the command.
i usually do a copy (from a text) then paste it to the screen, sometimes that doesn't seem to work.. 1st time i turned msgi and msgo both on, i did a ini to get the screen back...
You have three types of monitoring and the easiest is MON 0. To set the MON level to 0 go to LD 96 and type:
"SET MSGI xx MON 0" and "SET MSGO xx MON 0"
To enable monitoring type "ENL MSGI xx" and "ENL MSGO xx"
where xx is the number of the D-channel you are tracing.
MON 0 outputs CC_CONNECT_REQ and so on and it's slightly more readable. MON 2 is not understandable if it's the first time you monitor. But if Nortel or somebody else request D-channel information it's usually MON 2 they are interrested in.
Viper222 is correct. It will take the command and will stop filling the buffers. However, it may take some time for the buffers to clear. You just have to wait.
i usually just type the command into a txt file do a copy and paste using procomm, and yes even with the paste command, the screen runs for a while, at least with the paste command, you know you didn't fat finger the command..
