I need to format cells so that the value "TRUE" gives a "1" and value "FALSE" gives a "0".

I've figured out how to do it the opposite...

[=1]"TRUE";[=0]"FALSE";General

but I can't get what I want to work. Can someone help, please?

=IF(A1,1,0)

This works if you want to put that equation in another cell.

So that you don't have to deal with another equation, is there a way to use custom formats to do it?

Or am I misunderstanding. This equation can be used in custom formats and I'm just not doing correctly.

What do you want to happen. If you return a value to the cell that you are evaluating, you get a circular reference.

However, you could use a Conditional Format and shade the cells in question if they test true or false using

Formula Is =A1 and shade green, for instance

Why do you need this ???
If you need it for a formula then simply multiplying TRUE by 1 will give a 1 and multiplying FALSE by 1 gives 0 so if it is for calc use, don't bother, just include a cell*1 step in the calc....

Thanks. I guess I was looking at this incorrectly. That is much simpler.
