Hi everyone,

Is there a way to count the number of characters in a cell in Excel?

I ask because I want to eventually write a function that will trim X number of characters from the right-hand side of a cell, but I was surprised to find that there's no "count characters" function.

Thanks,
Augustine

Hi,

To trim x characters from the right of a value...
=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-x)
where x is the number of characters.
