Is there a test to tell if a person is using a cordless phone at there extension?

Cordless phones are prohibited here and we do not want them to be in use.

SheepDog,
It really doesn't matter that you can't see them since you're not listening anyway.

To start out with, I don't know any way to track down the wireless phones other than the scanner from radio shack or a $10000 spectrum anyalyzer.
I don't know if I found “Phone Police...put down the phone!” or "leather rubber" more funny. Actually I thought he was talking about leather masks and rubber hoses until I finished reading the sentance.
But on to more serious business. Usually u should turn off testing on your voice mail ports, modems, and any other analog ports that aren't regular phones because the impedance is usually a little different and when the pbx does a test of the line, it might take it out of service if it doesn't see a regular 2500dgmc-003 out there. In some cases u have turn off the testing on phones in hospitals and hotels, because the phone will ring a little and wake people up.
And if u think this thread is too long and just plain funny read the one on "what is my title?

I can now see them again. I am indeed listening and thought there might be some one else out there that knew of a way that other people did not know about. There is always new Technology that is being introduced to the market so I thought I would ask again!

SheepDog,
Fair enough, check back in 2 or 3 months. With all the attention being given to analog technology these days I'm sure there will some developments. :)

The only other thing that I can think of, u could connect a cordless phone up to a analog port. Test it, then look at the "display errors" and see if any particular error comes in that is not there for regular 2500 phones. Then note that error, and do display errors again, put that error in to look for and see if u can find the cordless phones that way.
If nothing else, if u want to pay Avaya tier 3, they could probably find a way to find those phones.

Analog Phone:

Port Maintenance Name Alt. Name Test No. Result Error Code

01A0103 ANL-16-L 5001 35 PASS
01A0103 ANL-16-L 5001 48 PASS
01A0103 ANL-16-L 5001 36 PASS

Cordless Phone:

Port Maintenance Name Alt. Name Test No. Result Error Code

01B0601 ANL-16-L 5036 35 ABORT 1018
01B0601 ANL-16-L 5036 48 ABORT 1018
01B0601 ANL-16-L 5036 36 PASS

No guarantees!!

U did the test, now look at the errors and see if the cordless one has different errors. Oh, u need to turn on testing for the cordless phone.

What is the command prompt for this test?

Test sta 4440 long ? or is it something different?

first do "change station xxxx" and make sure testing says "yes" and the user is not using the phone while testing the phone, otherwise, some tests will abort.
"test station xxxx long"
and then
"display errors"
and put "errors" in the sencond field that says "active" by default, then put the extension in the field below that says extension, or put in the port #, then enter that and see what errors come up, that don't come up on a station that is not connected to a cordless analog phone.
