Hello,

We are in the process of connecting two switches together so that the secondary switch acts basically as an EPN.

Can anyone point me to a manual which would explain exactly how to do this?

With this type of configuration, can the remote site use Service Observe without any configuration issues?

Thanks!

That should be covered in the Administrator's guide for Network Connectivity. The only way that you can possibly service observe is if the systems are DCS.

Thanks guys... (here is where my lack of experience shows)

I'm not sure if this is DCS or not, but what we want to do is have all of our agents / stations configured at Site A, but they will log in to Site B.

Site A will still holding the call.

Thanks again!

You could use T1's and get DS1C cards to make this cabinet an EPN and not a seperate switch that is DCS'd. You can have up to 4 T1's on a single DS1C card.

Keep in mind that you will be using all of the facilities in the main PBX unless you drop service into the EPN conncected via DS1C. Also keep in mind that if the circuits that connect the EPN to the main pbx go down then the epn is down as there is nothing to process the calls. The way around that would be to make the EPN a survivable unit.

We used DS1C's with 4 point to points, and then seperated our Inbound/Outbound T's over the PPN and the EPN (mile diversity). This design will appear seamless for everybody. Service Observe, login/logout, etc... will work as though you were on (1) PPN. You'll also need a few paradyne boxes on each end if you do 4 T's.

Are they 650's, G3R, etc...?

Thanks,
Chris

98 converter may have the best option for you. I called last week about connecting a remote building using DCS and I was told it's about $68,000 to turn that on. I could use the method that 98converter has told you about and it would work great.
