I transferred databases to new hardware for our new exchange server.
I followed the instructions in Microsoft Knowledge base article 297289. Afer doing so I would get "Computer name is already in use in directory" error when I tried to join domain. I the followed article 325674 instructions because I was getting these errors in event log on the exchange server.
After these steps I would get the error mentioned in the subject. If I logged on locally to the machine I could then change the computers domain membership by taking out the extras, meaning, in the box it would say fvrd.bc.ca i would change it to just fvrd, rejoin the domain, and everything would work fine. I could then log into the domain. But if I rebooted the machine, it would lose it membership and I would be back to the subject line error.
Im VERY stumped on this one. Im going to be upgrading to exchange 2003 and server 2003 as soon as I fix this but Im considering just going for it anyway.
