Right heres the story.
1 SBS server
heterogenous network (xp home, RH, xp pro, win98)
on the server I can see however!.. On all client machines this does not resolve. even if I ping companyweb from a client the DNS does not resolve. but if i ping from the server it resolves fine. Heres as much info as i can think of that I have checked before posting this post-
DNS entry A record with PTR pointing companyweb to the server's IP.
IIS is fine, all files are there and permissions are correct for all users.
tried the URL while sat on the server, works fine :-/
tried from the client machines many different URLS from suggestions, even ones i knew wouldnt work:
companyweb.domainname.local
domainname.local/companyweb
IP/companyweb
companyweb/default.aspx
all client machines point to the server for DNS resolution.
- works fine on all machines
remote workspace works fine on all machines
client help works fine on all machines
we are accessing this all on an intranet, no firewalls stopping things, no NAT, no external access.
Any ideas?
cheers all
