We had to power down our Cisco 3700 router at the weekend. This roter is used as our default gateway for over 100 users. We just discovered now that a VLAN on the EtherSwitch is showing as down. We think that this is because the router didn't detect the EtherSwitch when it was switched back on again. When I do show ip int brief the interface isn't listed (I don't know the exact name of the interface but the IP is 10.128.12.254 - and that's not listed). If we re-seat the module will it be re-detected, or is there any chance that it could crash the router? Obviously the easiest solution would be to restart the router - but we can't do that because it would affect all our users.
Or is there any command that we can issue to re-detect it? I'm guessing not but I'm hoping that there is !!
Can anybody help me out here?
