Hi All,
I have a site running an old CMS with wallboard reporting via serial data through a Spectrum RS232/485 converter.
The problem I have is that the on board serial port (Com A) of the Sun (/dev/term/a) seems to have died, and there is no data present on it.
As a workaround fix I want to revert to the old connection method of using the serial outputs of the 8 Port Annex terminal Services box which is currently connected and serving the Data Link to Definity, and the remote management via the Tracker.
I need to know what the correct Unix syntax is to address one of the Annex ports. From the device listing it could be /dev/pseudo_* but I'm not certain. Anyone else out there been around long enough to remember these things?
Thanks,
Nick.

Beleive it or not we are still using the annex box to drive three spectrum wallboards. We are using V-Display as the driving program where the annex box is defined as /dev/s_pdev214. This could depend on your implementation though.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the Info.
/dev/s_pdev is one of the possibilities I had guessed. Please could you tell me, on your system, is the terminal services port connected directly to the wallboards, or are you using an intermediate PC to drive them? And which port number on the terminal services box is the connection to, and is it an 8 port Terminal server (Annex box)?
Working on the assumtion that as you have 3 wallboards, but only quote one target device (/dev/s_pdev214) then your wallboards are either daisy-chained or run by an intermediate device.
Is there any correlation between the 214 bit of the device address and the connected port number of the Annex?
Grateful for any help,
Thanks,
Nick.
