CMS dropping connections

We are running CMS version 15. The server keeps dropping all user sessions.

After extensive testing and monitoring from Avaya Tier 4 and an Avaya Remote Field Engineer (RFE) we discovered that the CMS server kept seeing a dell server on our network at the router. The dell server has 2 NICs which are internally teamed within the server using the Broadcom suite. The server only has 1 IP address. It is not the router IP address. The CMS server is the only box on our network that is having this problem. Our data network administrators do not see any IP address conflicts on the network.

According to the Avaya RFE and a wire shark monitor session the dell server is doing a unicast to CMS from the 2nd NIC and presenting the IP address as that of the router.

This is actually the 2nd time we have had this same problem with a dell server on our network. Again, CMS is the only server that has a problem with it.

Anyone heard of this same issue? Any suggestions how to resolve it?

I assume that the CMS application is running on a SUN server that is equipped with two NICs. In our shop we use the 1st NIC for the CVS users and the 2nd NIC for the PBX links. The IP addresses for each NIC are defined in the /etc/hosts file. If you are using both NICs, routing statements need to be built in /etc/rc2.d/S99route.

We had an issue where the CMS was losing it's connection to the PBX. Avaya found the issue to be related to the fact that both NIC cards were in the same subnet. Once we configured them to be in different subnets the issue resolved.

Thanks for the input. Yes it is a SUN server. Ours is just the opposite. NIC 1 is for the PBX and NIC 2 is for the end user’s. We never lose connectivity for the PBX, just the end user’s.
