I bought an AMD AthlonXP 1500+ after reading on the Chaintech web site that my board (7AJA2) supported AMD XP's with their BIOS update.
Installed CPU.
Booted under original BIOS.. All Well.
Recognized CPU as AMD Athlon running at 1000MHz.
Installed their latest BIOS update & rebooted.
CPU recognized as AMD AthlonXP (no type number) running at 1000MHz. Sytem became unstable and blue screened.
Restored old BIOS.
Repeated using their latest flashing software. Same results.
BIOS Restored.
Chaintech have adopted website based technical support and requires the mobo's serial # to complete the web form... Guess what. Yep, no trace of a serial# on the mobo pcb or any labels. The two Chaintech e-mail addys I found on other sites both bounced as undeliverable.
ARRGGH!
If you can help with any of the above I promise to drink an extra beer for you this Christmas in my local watering hole
Thanks all.. the more the merrier
