Changing IP address in CMS

That's good for CMS Supervisor, but you've still got to change the IP address on the actual CMS server. Other considerations are the IP addresses for AUDIX, MapD, CLAN boards, MedPro boards, etc. Also, are the sub-net masks and default gateways changing, as well? I'd follow cyberon's advice and have Avaya or an outsource company do the work for you.

Basicly it comes down to changing the '/etc/hosts' file,
and the '/etc/defaultrouter' file if you have one.
In no case change the system name, it will kill it definately.
The installation and maintenance manual, got a chapter with
what to do step by step.

There are a couple of things you need to take into consideration.
1. If the CMS is connected directly to a C-LAN on the switch or using a DCIU link than the link should be okay when you change IP addressing.
2. Assuming here you have no additional ACD's connected.
3. Address in CMS is changed simply by changing the /etc/hosts file and editing the entries for the host name and router. Reboot system and addresses change.
DO NOT CHANGE THE /etc/defaultrouter IT SHOULD HAVE THE HOST NAME "router" IN IT SO YOU ONLY HAVE TO CHANGE THE ADDRESS IN THE HOSTS TABLE.
4. IF YOU CONNECT TO THE SWITCH VIA AN ETHERNET ADDRESS ON YOUR LAN YOU WILL NEED TO RECONFIGURE THE IP ADDRESSING IN THE DEFINITY. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO CHANGE THE /etc/hosts SWITCH ENTRY. IF THE CMS WAS CORRECTLY CONFIGURED TO BEGIN WITH THAN THE ACD POINTS TO THE SWITCH NAME AND NOT THE IP ADDRESS. THIS MAKES IT DEPENDENT UPON THE /etc/hosts ENTRY.
5. Don't forget to tell all your CentreVu users they need to point to new address.

The instructions make the assumption that you have made a full sysadm backup of CMS and that your CMS uses IP to connect to the switch.
