Is there a way of changing the color of the desktop's icon's text in XP Pro? I used to be able to do it, but I can't seem to find it any lokger.

One of my users wants to change her desktop background, and now all her icon's text is still in white.
I played around a while then told her I'd get back to her on it.

I must be getting old...

You should be able to make them clear. Check:

Ah. No, they don't have a background, only the white text under them. It's this text that she wants to change, not the background color of the boxes. The boxes are transparent.

There may not be a way to change them if the background is transparent:
You'll change the colour of all text by Start - Control Panel - Display - Appearance - Advanced and change the colour for Window.

You can change the desktop icon colour by a/ having transparent labels off and b/ set the background to a dark colour for white text and to a light colour for dark text. It is always white if transparent.
Taken from here:

Ahh, my bad.
Right click the desktop > Properties > Appearance > Advanced

Select "Icon" under item... you should be able to change it here.

Been there. No go. It gives me a chance to change the font but not the color.

This is what I'm finding alot of:
By default in XP, it can't be manually changed. The text changes on its own from dark to light depending on the color of the background

Thats MS for ya!
