Change temp directory where Outlook opens attachments?

I have been unable to figure this out...

Whenever I open up and attachment in Outlook the default directory where it tries to save (or stores the file) is some odd location on my W2K machine. It stores everything under C:\...\Temp Internet Files\OLK6C. I want to change it to just open up and store the temp files to C:\Temp.

Does anyone know how I can do this? I've already tried the registry and updating the environment variables, but Outlook seems to still override those settings.

I have not found anything on this issue... Any advice would be appreciated.

HI.

Outlook itself, will use the %TEMP% directory for "normal" attachments when you open them.
However, when you get an HTML message, is is handled by Internet Explorer modules, not by Outlook itself.
Therefor, some attached files will be saved among the other
"Temporary Interent Files".

Many virusses use exploits of HTML messages to bypass some security checks and instruct your computer to open and run the attachments without the need for the user to click on it.

What you can do/should do:
* Make sure you have an updated anti virus software.
* Apply latest security pack for Internet Explorer (see MS download site).
* Apply latest security patches and/or service pack to your outlook software.

And about the location of those temp files - As I mentioned HTML messages will use the same location as IE, so you can modify this in "Internet Options" but it won't help much...

The normal attachments will be openned from the path specified as the TEMP environment variable.
