Change DTI to PRI

Hello,
Trying to figure out the best way to convert a DTI Trunk to PRI Loop Option 11c... Unsure on what TMDI does, it seems like it is an automatic D channel controller maybe? Also if need be, how can I out the existing DTI Trunk setting? I have tried to change the mode of the trunk by LD 17 chg cequ and DLOP and mode "PRI" but I keep getting error of "Attempting to remove loop with with data still on it..." I'm thinking that I need to disable TMDI and add a DCH for the PRI to work...

To convert these, you will have to out just about everything and rebuild as a PRI set up. Do you have any other PRI's at this time? Do you have the daughter boards for setting up the D Channel?
The process is relatively simple to do, yet daunting at the same time, if you have never done it before.

I have the PRI here and it is turned up... I'm unsure on how to "Out" my settings... The TMDI, what should I do with that? I have a NTRB21AB with a Daughter board... I actually am running on the DTI now but will cut over to the PRI... I dont have a problem rebuilding. I have never done this but I have all the manuals... Any guidance would be appreciated!!!

If you haven't done this before you should find a local vendor to help you. There is a lot of programming to do this but here is a quick run down of the steps.

Disable the Loop
Out the clock controller config
out the trunks
out the route
out the DLOP

Then rebuild


Build the DLOP for PRI
Build the clock controller back
Build the D-channel
Build the route
Build the trunks

Enable TMDI with FDL and then bring up the loop and the d-channel should auto establish

Also make sure ISDN is turned on in your CDB

This is a high level overview and someone with only basic programming skills will have a hard time with this one.

By the way that daughter board is a clock controller. The D-channel is built onto the TMDI card. Another thing that comes to mind is if you have the correct packages in the PBX to do ISDN.

Well I gave it a good shot... I outed the all the trunks and routes... Changed my customer block to allow ISDN and was able to change my loop to a pri loop... I rebuilt the routes, trunks, and added a DCH but couldn't get it to come up... When I set the CEQU to PRI it wouldnt let me set as TMDI but would only allow MSDL... DHCI was another option... I had better luck with getting connection with it setup as a DTI loop without a DCH setup... At least the telco company could see a connection but DChannel would not sync or was missing... Looking at this summary, it says I have 64 Dchannels avaialable but 0 Tmdi-Channels available... Also I attached my pkgs...

I actually meant: when I went to setup the DChannel it would only allow setup as MSDL and not TMDI

Did you tell the system the loop was a TMDI in the DLOP settings?

I dont believe I did... I was trying to go off some other documentation and it was confusing me with the setting up the DCH but I rebuilt with "TMDI Yes" for the DTI loop as it was... Should I always have the TMDI enabled for my loops whether it is DTI or PRI?

You should answer TMDI yes in DLOP and use cad type TMDI in the DCH programming. Did it give you an error in the ADAN programming when you entered TMDI for card type?

I don't believe I have a downloadable Daughter board like KCFLHRC stated so the MSDL would never activate correct? I only tried building it one time and I didn't answer yes to TMDI in DLOP... After I saw it was wasnt coming up, I wanted to get back online with old service so I built back the OLD DLOP(DTI),routes, trunks, etc... With the DTI conenction, I dont have any DCHs setup but TMDI is enabled... I will try again at a non-busier time with the DLOP in TMDI to "Yes" and see if the DCH will behave better... I extended cutover to another week... By looking at my packages and having a 1.5 TMDI DTI/PRI card, I should be able to make a NI2 PRI function with my PBX without additional hardware correct?

Sorry - that is built IN. The dch is part of the TMDI card. Once configured correctly it with download the proper software it needs from the CPU.

So it seems that my TMDI card is locked to DTI mode... When I "FDL" my tmdi it states a forced mode of DTI... I read another post stating that I dont have the license for a TMDI dchannel

So is there any way to use TMDI with a PRI in my situation? Any way to unlock that?

I heard that anything after release 25 will allow free tmdi channels...

I think you will need to upgrade or find an old PRI card that works on RLS 24, I think they are the NTAK09 boards wiht ther DCH duaghter boards
