Hello,
We have 200 5610 IP sets on the customers Cisco vlan network.
Question of the day: Is there a way to do a bulk change for all 5610 IP sets to use the G711 codec instead of the G729 codec?
We have modified our 46xxsettings.txt file for other items such as sidetone and call server, but we cannot find any settings for the codec in this file. We downloaded the latest 46xxsettings.txt file from Avaya and found the setting, however when we install a new set, the codec does not change. I think the large 46xx file is for the Communication Manager, and is not meant for IPO.
Any ideas would be great,
Thanks,
Dave

Change the extension from Auto or G729 to G711.

This has to be done from the manager aplication. if you go under extensions and then the VOIP tab you can change them to other things. when set to auto they try to use 729 first. I have found 711 on the LAN and 729 on the WAn works best.

We are aware of the setting change in the Manager program, under extensions, then voip tab.

What we are wondering is if there is any way to change all 200 IP sets at once? Or using the 46xx file to have the setting changed?

Thanks,
Dave

Not that i know of. if you find a way let me know. It is a manager setting not a phone setting.

This does change all 200 extensions at once. The moment you reboot the IP Office after making the change all phones will reboot on RRQ and renegotiate G.711. There is no point nor advantage in changing this in the script file.

i think he means he doesnt want to have to manually change that setting individually for each extn, which would be a pain, but i imagine he has finished by now

Ahh. I see now. Still the best way to do it but I agree it is a pain.
