I have been given a terrific explanation of how to access the Windows library "cards.dll" by strongm - thread 711-635472
I am not able to run this under Win98. It works great in XP! (After figuring out the bitmap persistance problems).
98 does not recognize calls to the dll ('DLL not found' error) and you can't create a 'Reference' to CARDS.DLL in 98 either.
I know this is a fading OS but I was never, for the past 5 years, able to get the cards to work. (McKinney didn't help me at all, creating classes and using his CARDS32.DLL).
Can someone tell me what the answer is to using the DLL that ships with Windows 98?

Um...yes, I figured out a way to do that too but it is trickier because the DLL on W98 is 16-bit, and 32-bit VB cannot talk to it directly as it can with the 32-bit version. The method involves loading the DLL as a resource library and then pulling the cards out as graphical resources.

The code I did for the W98 DLL is at work, and I won't be back in the office 'til Tuesday

OK. Thanx strongm. If you locate the code and do post it, I will check later in the week. Hope you are enjoying the summer, - Ron (The XP code is smooth).

OK, I've stuck the code in the original thread (thread711-635472) to keep everything together
