Had a total data loss on a 6.5.2 server, had to rebuild it (Raid failure). I am trying to restore the data from tape and unable to. (BackupExec 9.1 installed from latest release.)

I have a tape that I have cataloged and I can see all the files I want to restore. It's the only tape in the set. When I try to restore through the Windows Admin console, I get the error: "The restore selections for this job have backup sets whose restore targets are not currently available. Please redirect these backup sets to an available device".

When I try to launch the restore from the server based utility, I get this error: "Could not find SERVERNAME in the agent list on SERVERNAME\BUSINESS:. All selections for this device will be skipped. Error: Nothing found to restore."

The SERVERNAME is the same server name as it was when the backup was made. It's using the full BackupExec Media server, not the agents.

I will be very grateful to anyone that can point me in the right direction and tell me what I am missing.

Thanks.
Marvin

Could be that BE is expecting your directory structure to already exist. Try redirecting the restore target as if you were restoring to a different server.

Sorry I put that on the wrong forum. It seems that it does not even get to the place where I can specify elsewhere. I have recreated the volume and root directory. I take a closer look and see what I can come up with.
