OK, first I have tried to get this to work for 3 days. I am at a loss. I have a NT5D12AB card and a NTBK51AA card. I installed the PRI card in the Common Equipment slot associated with Loop 50 and 51. Below is the programming I think is related to this issue for your review. I have the switch settings on the NT5D12 on S3 as 1 OFF 2 OFF 3 OFF 4 ON 5 & 7 OFF 8 ON. I then programmed my CEQU and ADAN. The DCH light on the top of the card is lit solid red. If I enable the loop the first row of lights associated with loop 50 change from there disabled state to ACT-Green and RED-Red so I know the card is in the right slot and functioning. The Daughter Card/MSDL will just not enable. I know the D-Channel will not sync for various reasons but as you can see below, won't even attempt to enable because it says the card is no present. Just to cover my bases I have tried 2 different NT5D12AB cards and 2 refurbished and 1 new NTBK51AA cards. I have also moved the PRI card from Slot associated with 50/51 to 34/35 and 36/37. I also have tried to associate the D-Channel card as a device number 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 which is the device numbers I have unused. To get the PRI up I loaned them a QPC720 card and a MSDL card and programmed AND got working in less than 20 minutes so I know I haven't forgot how to do it. The problem is we are running out of real estate and need to start replacing our 5 existing QPC720 cards with these. Heres the Config and thank you for your time:

It all looks good and the switch settings are correct. Try using the MSDL card for DChannel, rule out card, but I would bet on a bad card.

What is software version of switch. i have seen 5D12AB cards used before, but I think they recommend AG versions in release 25 through Succession.

Bet on the Daughterboard being bad.

John

I gave alot of info so you might have missed it but I have tried (2) NT5D12AB cards and (3) NTBK51AA cards.

As for the AB vintage of the PRI card, maybe. Boy will I be mad if I find out that's the case, but for now I would have to order anything newer than the AB.. We had (2) of that vintage so that's what I tested with.

As for the software version

maybe i didn't read the post right, but the pri can't stand up (enable) without at least one trunk... ??

I had this built with 23 trunks in every scenario. I had just deleted and rebuilt it this morning and had not built the trunks or RDB again. I just wanted to get it posted so I could get replies while I continued working on the problem. BUT I usually could build the Loop and enable the MSDL port without trunks, you just can't get the D-Channel to sync/link/standup. I have since the original post built the trunks and RDB and still nothing. If you want I can post the trunk and RDB programming but since it says

MSDL0028
Cannot enable the card because it is not present in the system.
Action: If the card in question is believed to be present, check if =
the switch settings on the card agree with the device number entered in this command.

I think it's not even getting this far.

i don't see a fault, i would go ahead and add 51 to my cequ, when you unplug the card do you get anything on the screen?.. i would have to think it's plugged in to the wronge slot.. that's hard to do, but with that many bad cards?

I have had both loops on the card programmed but since it isn't working, to save time I have been skipping the second Loop. When I enable the Loop the Active light (ACT) goes from Red to Green. I can then disable it and they all go back red again. If I remove the card without disabling it (forgot once) I do get errors on the screen. Exactly what I don't remember but it was something along the lines the card not being available anymore.

OH yeah, I also got so discuraged I did an INI and that didn't help so after hours I did a Reset, since this is all I had done since my last EDD I let it wipe all my programming just incase there was some memory corruption and that also had no results.

It looks like your DCH programming has loops 50/51 in group 0. I believe they are in group 1.

jjinkins, I have a MSDL card on this shelf, two cards to the right of the NT5D12 card. The MSDL card has D channels programmed on it and they all were listed as group 0 so I programmed this as group 0. Monday/Today. in the afternoon I will out this and program it as a group 1 device and see if it changes anything. I will post results good or bad. Thanks for the idea.

jjinkins good catch. changing that to group 1 should fix your problem. looks like we all get to looking for the hard fix first, we sometimes overlook the obvious.

John

I have an Option 61C Rls 25 that uses the NT5D61AB IODUC cards. Had to power
down the switch and after bringing the system back up noticed that the
floppies were failing. To make a long story short I found Bulletin number:
PAA 2003-351, which states the problem that I am having and the work around
(reseat the card within 30 seconds of being removed from the shelf).
Basically, when I test either card it errors CIOD008 (0 OR 1): CMDU (0 OR 1)
FDK test fail. The books contain much info about replacing defective units,
upgrading, and etc. but not just reseating the card. Below is the print out
of stat of the cards.
>ld 137
CIOD000
.stat
IOP 0 ENABLED (STANDBY: S/W STATUS) IODUC
IOP 1 ENABLED (ACTIVE) IODUC
CMDU 0 ENABLED (STANDBY)
CMDU 1 ENABLED (ACTIVE)
RDUN ENABLED
ELNK ENABLED
SDEV 1 OK (KC VALID)

My question is this the correct procedure for reseating these IODUC cards?

LD 135
SCPU (If necessary to switch the core)
LD 137
STAT (STATUS OF IODU/Cs)
DIS CMDU x (disable suspect CMDU)
DIS IOP x (disable suspect IOP)
Set ENB/DIS switch to DIS
Remove NT5D61 IODU card
Reinsert NT5D61 IODU card
Set ENB/DIS switch to ENB
ENL CMDU x
ENL IOP x
STAT

Does this look correct or am I missing something?

You will need to do this after hours. Just put the cores in maintenance and then reseat. When you go from maint core to active core the switch will INI.

John

OK, Am I missing something? Does this have to do with my problem so I should try it for my scenario with the NT5D12 or was this a mis-post?

This has nothing to do with your post. Someone put this in here then opened another thread. Sorry.

John

I may be wrong but I believe Port 0 on an MSDL card comes out of the box optioned to be a TTY port. I would look at the RS422 DTE/DCE settings on the card.

MrPederman, this is a NTBK51AA daughterboard card. It plugs onto the Dual T-1 Card.

did setting it to group 1 work?

and pederman you are correct, for a MSDL card, but viper is using a daughterboard, but good information nonetheless.

John

ANSWER:

YES programming it in Group 1 instead of 0 did the trick. It works great. Sorry for the delay, I had gotten busy and then forgot about this thread. Thanks to everyone and super thatnks to jjinks.
