All,
Any help on the following would be appreciated...
I have recently upgraded to XP SP2 (Don't know if this is a coincidence or not). My laptop has started to run a scan disk at startup, when it does it attempts to truncate lots of files within the temp directory of my profile. After a while the scandisk hangs with my hard disk going absolutely crazy. If I try to boot in safe mode it hangs before it gets there with the same problem on my hard disk. I've had a look in the temp of my profile, and theres tons of directories and files (it says theres 98.6Gb in total, but all are 0 bytes) with strange names. I've tried to delete them and all I get is "cannot read from source file or disk". I can rename the directory but thats about it. AVG hasn't picked up a virus.
Any ideas if theres anything I can run to get rid of them?
thanks in advance
Jase
