My company has a ISP hosted website. When I was setting up my Win2k server I gave it the same name. Is this going to cause any problems? This is what I got from Microsoft:
"If you do want to use your Internet domain name, it is recommended that you talk with your Internet service provider (ISP) before making this decision. They may recommend a DNS name for you that is dependent on your Internet domain name and the agreement with them on how your Internet name resolution will be configured.
For example, if an ISP will be hosting the domain, some ISP's recommend that your server's DNS name has a prefix appended to it (for example, corp.microsoft.com) for security reasons. In addition, manual configuration of several of the Small Business Server applications will be necessary in this case."
Does anybody know any details on that last sentence? Any insight would be appriciated. I need to have this server going real soon and if I need to reinstall to change the name I need to do it like now.
thanks
Ryan
