Can I install msde 2000 on my xp box which already has sql 2000 Developer edition on it.

strangily, I need to use both editions and it would be conveneint if they were both on my laptop. SO can I have an instance in SQL developer 2000 edition and an edition in MSDE 2000 with no problems?

I have never done this, but I don't see why it couldn't be done. The only thing I think you would have to do is don't take the default instance name as that might conflict with the instance name already used. Give the MSDE instance a different name.

Do you have a spare computer where you can test it? Just install a test Developer and then a test MSDE. When you are done, just uninstall them.

Yes but I no longer have the developer instal disk. Can I just find the set.up exe program on my xp box and move it test box do u think?

MSDE is "free-ware", just go to Microsoft's MSDE website

But you weren't asking about installing Developer...

If you are trying to install Developer and don't have the disk...you are probably out of luck.

I was saying that if the other edition caused a conflict and problem , I would not be able to reinstall developer.
