Does anyone know how to get the Mac Address off a Call Pilot, no I do not have the IP address, it was changed by a previous vendor and the client does not have the IP address. I tried hyper terminal, no luck, did it couple years ago, but it won't pip out the info, I have a RS232 to USB serial I beleive, worked in the past, my computer does not have RS232. I know the converted RS232 does not work with the Ethernet conversion. I've looked at all the fAQ I could find, nothing on the MAC Address. Every device has a MAC Address, but no where on any Nortel Manuals do I have speaks of Mac Address.

Help!

You must configure your terminal to the following communications parameters:
• 9600 bits per second
• 8 data bits
• no parity
• 1 stop bit
• no flow control
if you use a usb port to serial you need to knwow that com port
set hyper term to use that port with above settings
i have never had a problem using hyper term with usb to serial
have hyper term connected power down cp. then power back up
on e of the very first things you will see is what ip is assigned to that unit. press M to modify with in a couple of seconds
as long as none of the default settings where changed like baud rate etc. you should not have a problem

yes the key is to figure out what port is the USB, may post this question on the microsoft forum, IT told me USB does not have a port # by default, don't beleive him.

192.168.110.10 didn't work? Maybe they changed it back to the default.

default did not work, they had an old D-Link router lying around and so I went from 192.168.0.1 to 200 in hoping to hit it, no luck.

So I need to get to hyper terminal and watch it scroll by

well you also need a cross over if connecting direct to cp
and your nic card has to be in that range
so like rik said 192.168.110.10, your nic needs to be 192.168.110.11
subnet 255.255.255.0

"IT told me USB does not have a port # by default, don't beleive him."

it does if its a com connection.
i plug mine in to an open usb and it's com 4, take it out and plug into another usb port its com 3 etc.

hyperterm will see any thing pluged in a usb port if it's
a com cable via usb to serial, modem etc.
