We have a VP who is getting 6 calls a day to a different person in the company. He has told them they are dialing the wrong number but they insist on calling his number. How do I block it from reaching his extension. I cant create a vrt table because his phone number is a DID number.

I cant create a vdn because then we have to assign a new extension to the VP. Any ideas on any other ways I can block it other than calling the provider?? I do have the number we need to block..THanks!

Is it coming from the same external number? Why couldn't you create a VDN and VRT, only the VP and his secretary would know... To everyone else, his number remains the same. Heck, if he is using an IP Phone, give him a new number and relabel the phone and no one would be the wiser.

It sounds like the caller is just being a jerk. Set up a VDN/vector to play hold music for half an hour and disconnect. Have the VP fwd the calls to that number. I bet the calls stop.

I've had to do this in the past where my employee would not consider changing their number - I ended up with the following:

Create a new coverage path for the individual - point the coverage path to a new VDN after 1 ring.

Create a new vector for the coverage VDN:
[tt] wait 1 seconds hearing silence
goto step 5 if ani = 1234567890 (offending number)
route to number 1234 with cov n if unconditionally
stop
disconnect after announcement 9876
stop[/tt]

Create a new non-DID station (extension 1234).
Take away the second and third call appearences of your VP, and give them bridged appearences of lines 1 and 2 of 1234 instead. Change page two of the VP's station so "Auto Select Any Idle Appearance" is set to YES and "Restrict Last Appearance" is set to NO.

Create a new announcement (9876) giving the caller the correct telephone number for the individual they really want to reach.

If the person has voicemail, put the non-DID number as a secondary extension for the DID's AUDIX account. Make sure that the new non-DID number has the normal coverage path to voicemail.

What version of PBX do you have? Do you have EC500 capabilities?

what about using incoming call handling treatment
so if someone calls his ext, it routes to vdn first and goes to a vector like the one above, checks ani, then routes to the stations, would be transparent to the user...

this is an example of one trunk...

See thread690-543688 for blocking an inbound call with EC500....

I don't know if available in r11, I just upgraded to cm 3.1.2 (looks like R13?) also the T-1 has to be a PRI I believe..
Then it is just ch inc tr xx where xx is trunk #
full command is "change inc-call-handling-trmt trunk-group xx"

so for did # 241-2350, the t-1 provider passes 2350, I delete the 2350, and replace with ext. 5835.. and it rings to me..
however, I could replace with vdn #, that points to a vector like Susan has above, that could check ani first, then route to extension, or to whatever you want to do with that call.

I believe that the incoming call handling treatment was on the trunk group form prior to this release,,

Thank you to everyone who helped me out!!! I finally got it to work by using the EC500 feature, the only problem is the vp's phone flashes (doesnt ring) and then it goes to his voice mail, any solution??
