Does anyone know the proper part number or description for the 4GB tape for the tape drive in an Intuity? I need to order some new blank tapes and am not sure what these things really are. It does say 4.0 GB though.

They usually use a Travan 2.5 or 4 gig tape. U can get them on the internet. Office Depot and other office supply stores don't usually carry them cuz most systems use larger tapes. Avaya says not to use larger tapes as it can cause problems. U can get the tapes from Avaya, but they will charge u bunches more. The tapes will usually last about 6 months or more, but usually they are guaranteed for only 30 writes, and they system does a backup each night. So Avaya says u should 'retire' them after a month. Most people rotate them daily or weekly. Always keep a somewhat current tape offsite in case of fire or flood.
If u still want the comcode for the tape, call Avaya and they can get it for u and then bring Avaya direct to have some tapes mailed to u for a big bunch of money.

Thanks orypecos. Do you happen to have a part number for the tape? I really don't want to have to order these from Avaya and apparently we have been using the same backup tape for several years. :)

No sorry I don't have the part number. The only part number that I knew was a comcode, which is used to buy the tape from Avaya. I no longer work at Avaya so don't have the comcode anymore.

I just received a new tape. The information on the label was as follows:

LUC-408133296

Intuity Audix Tape Blank IDE
VEND P/N: 408133296

408133296
Tape MACG-74999-9102-4

I had to pay $200 for one tape. I'm looking for alternative solutions. Did anyone find an alternate source for purchasing these?

Though maybe not in the stores, but the tapes DEFINITELY are able to be purchased on 'staples.com' for considerable less than what Avaya will charge. Simply do a search for 'Travan' and you will find a list of what's available.

Better yet, save your $200 for one tape, Send me $150 instead and I will make the the appropriate arrangements.

I use these tapes from HP.

HP C4425 Data Cartridge.

Preformatted 8GB/TR-4

8 GB Compressed/4 GB Native

Travan Technology

Avaya will tell you this tape doesn't work but I've been using them for years. They're roughly 25 bucks each. I bought my last ones at Frys in California about a month ago.

The generic name for this tape is DC 9200 or QIC-2GB-DC. I am using some made by Verbatim. The reorder # for these is 89120. Somewhere around $30 each. Believe it or not there are some for sale on EBay for $25 + shipping. :)

Sorry, I should have remembered to update this thread when I finally got a resolution.

You can get them at Office Depot and Staples....

In the future everything will work...
