Avaya System directory adding a pause in dialing

Hello first post but I've been using the forums for a while now. Great resource here and you've all have saved me a few times now!

I'm working on a solution, I've managed to create a speed dial on a phoneset that uses commas ,,, to delay dialing an extension.

So It dials an external number waits a few seconds while the connection is made and then dials the extension to bypass the auto attendant of the external company.

I tried to simply input this into a system directory entry however it is a incompatible when trying to use comma... it actually changes them to ....

Is there a way to do this same delayed dial via a system directory entry?

If not can you think of a way to do this easily for all users to have access? As far as I can tell manager can't add speed dial direct on the phoneset, it can make system speed dials though so that might be an option, of course there is about 40 of these I'd like to program.

This is on IP office 500 on V 9.1.0.0

Try this...

Create a short code to dial the desired number with the pause (*22/dial/180044444444,,,,4444/50)

Then create an entry in the Directory/Contacts using the Short Code as the phone number

Or if you want to have the actual number in the directory, then create a shortcode of

number/dial/number,,,ext/50

or equivalent

It wont work. Because you need to send DTMF tones and the dial function wont do this.

Also try using a D (for POTS) or a Y (for PRI) instead of, or in conjunction with the commas.

I used Direct Dial instead of dial and it worked using the commas. Dial did not work

Short code wise.

Then I'll just add directory entries for those short codes.

That's interesting, because "Dial Direct" is the same as "Auto Intercom", where the receiving party (internal) hears 3 beeps and the call is automatically connected hands-free.
