Hi,

Hoping someone can help.

We're running Avaya One X Agent 2.5 on Win 7. We can't get the ringer to ring on the PC's external speaker. Instead, along with voice, it rings through on the headsets. We have "ticked" the Agent Preferences, Audio, "Play ringing through the internal PC Speakers".

Any ideas?

Thanks

maybe you have an issue with the pc speakers themselves, have you tested with playing a windows wav file?

The PC speakers are perfect. If I unplug the headphone jack the speakers work. The ringer and voice come through the external speakers.

FWIW, a number of years ago installing a CM 5.2, we couldn't get One-X Attendant to play a damned thing out of a desktop PCs speakers until we tossed in a generic Soundblaster card. What type of audio device is in the PC you're trying?

The sound works either through the headset or through the external speakers. This is quite normal behaviour when using a headset or earphones, but the overide ("Play ringing through the internal PC Speakers") in the Agent Software is trying to route JUST the ringer through the speakers, but failing.

I want to start off with I no longer have One X so I can not troubleshoot on my end so I am going off memory from some time back so bare with me... but here are a few easy suggestions that may or may not help:

Restart the PC and make sure that the usb headset is plugged in BEFORE powering up BOTH the pc and opening One X. I noticed issue when plugging the headset in after one X is already running.

I know you probably already made sure that the external speakers were not on mute but double check AFTER you start One X, I ran into an issue were the software ( still not sure if it was One X or Windows ) was muting the speakers, after I know for a fact that they were not on mute before hand.

Check and make sure you are up to date on the firmware of the headsets ! This is most likely not causing your current issue but has been the root of many of my past issues. I was using Jabre and on the site under downloads you can stay up to date on the firmware and it only take a few mins.

And of course what I know you already mentioned make sure you have "ticked" the Agent Preferences, Audio, "Play ringing through the internal PC Speakers".

One last thing, I know Microsoft had a hot fix out for volume / muting issue that you could apply as well. If you have a hard time finding it let me know and I will see if I still have it somewhere.

Good Luck !
