hello - i'm new to the avaya pbx world and was wondering where i can get my hands on a list of commands . i'm using ASA to get into these switches. any suggestions, directions, online websites, etc... are greatly appreciated.

commands i mean are for example... change system-parameters, and so on

There's an extensive list of commands. But it basically breaks down to three things you need:

Command Object Qualifier

For example:

change station 1234

If you press the "help" key, (F5 on ASA) you'll see all that you can do when you first login. (Not all logins have the same permissions.)

You'll likely see list, change, remove, and a dozen or so other commands.

If you type a command like 'list', and then press the "help" key again, you'll see all the things you can 'list'. Same thing for the 'change' command. Type 'change' and press "help" and you can see all the things you're allowed to change.

As for what they do, that takes experience and training. Probably way more than this forum can supply.

thx to both of you. i've been doing the online courses for a while now, Virtual labs and all. was hoping that someone had a quick list of tips that maybe that tossed together to assist them with daily commands, most used, etc. I am a newbie to the avaya world and will soon be getting a lot of exposure. i'm a hands on type of person..so i can't wait to get my hands on a real one..thx again!!!

In the link i gave you go through the Little books. They will give you lots of frequently used commands.
