Have a Sun Ultra 5 with Avaya CMS Centre-Vue CMS software that is having some problems.

System was running fine connected to Definity switch and LAN when lightning surge knocked out the SUn Ultra 5 that was running the CMS application.

We replaced all components in the Sun Ultra 5 that were defective and the Sun Ultra starts up fine. The problem is that the UNIX startup/login script seems to be corrupted and we can't get it setup to connect to the Definity switch and start the CMS software. We can remote ping into it, but from the Sun monitor - locally, the UNIX startup script runs but fails to connect to Switch thereby not completing its startup and loading the CMS program.

We need to know the next step to get the system back up and running.

I have seen an instance of this, there may be 2 ways round your problem.
1/ If the cms application did not shut down correctly, then all sorts of odd things happen, shutdown the platform with the shutdown -g0 command, then when it has completely shut down power off and on again, see if that helps.
2/ Re-load the Solaris O/S and the cms software. Speak softly and carry a big switch
