One of my 9640G phones decided to stop getting dial tone when the Speaker Button is pressed. The button just turns red.
All of my other phones select line A and have dial tone when the speaker button is pressed.
I have cleared the phone and reprogrammed the IP settings.
I have removed the user and removed the extension and saved configuration and then recreated them from scratch.
I can't find any information about programming to change this.
I think I may have a defective phone.

could be a defective hook switch
does the dialtone come on when you press the A button?
if it does then the hookswitch is done

When I press the "A" button I get dial tone.
Once I have dial tone I can go back and forth between handset and speaker.
If I am talking on the speaker and disconnect or drop the call the speaker button stays lit until i press it.
I have tried everything I know to do and I think this phone is defective.

What do you guys think?

hmmm. Do you think it could be a faulty hookswitch maybe?

daddy? are you doing blah blah blah things again?

Check the idle line preference under telephony for the user. maybe it was disabled.
