Hello

I bought 3 Avaya 1616 units and I have connected them to my IPO406v2. However whenever I power them off, I always have to re-enter the router and filesv settings. Other IP phones that I have (46xx) don't behave like this.

Is there something I am missing as regards the 1616 phones?

Put option 272 in your dhcp server or let the ipo be the dhcp server.
If you have another dhcp server then tick the option "only avaya phones only" then you can have them both in the same network.
Put in the right settings in dhcp and your problem is over.

Well, I am using static IP assignment, not a DHCP server. If I used a DHCP server, how would it handle the FileSV option?

If the ipo is a dhcp server then put the ip address of the ipo in the http field in manager and send it back to the ipo

So, who really needs R6, with all these changes? I have decided to stay at R5 forever, with my IPO406s...
Will I get hurt some day?

Who talks about version 6 here ?

are the phones on the correct firmware?

try the DHCP route first, and get them on the right software.

Wrong post there (about R6). Sorry, everyone. I meant to ask that on a different thread.

I am new to these phones, but from somewhere in the menu, I can see {ha|hb}1616ua1)030.bin. Might this be the latest?
From some info I gleaned from the archives of this forum, I configured the Manager to have the LAN1 IP of the IPO as the HTTP Server IP Address, and then gave the FileSv address on the IP Phone as the LAN1 IP of the IPO. I hoped this would get the phones the latest firmware, but I am not sure they did.

have you not got a BP who can come in and sort this for you...sounds like you have bought them elsewhere to try and save a few penny's and cut out your BP

If you want to upgrade the 1600 series phone you need to use an HTTP server to do this.. I beleive the latest bin ifor the 1616 is ha1616ual_2110.bin

@Maxwell1001 - I bought these from a BP, but I'd love to learn to do things myself before calling them. I am not happy to let them do everything for me:)

@NYSTECH - can I use _any_ http server as long as it serves the files (I know the files it needs)? I am gonna try it!!

@VanZenden - Thanks so much. I did not know that there was 5.0.18. I was using 5.0.15 and with Release 6 being "spoken" everywhere, I thought that was the next in thing.
