I have a user who is running Office 2000 on Windows 2000. In Tools-->Add Ins, AutoSave has a check mark in front of it, showing that it is enabled. However, when AutoSave is enabled, it should show up under Tools as an option, where you can change the amount of time between saving, etc.. However, on this user's PC, Tools-->AutoSave is not there. I tried re-installing Auto-Save from the Office 2000 CD. This did not correct the problem. It is still showing AutoSave as turned on when I go into Add Ins, but AutoSave is not showing up under Tools. I tried Microsoft's Knowlegebase, but there was nothing there addressing this issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

I would try turning off the addin and then turning it back on. If that doesn't work, I'd try reinstalling the addin or replace it with a copy from a PC that has one that you know works.

Way cool stuff:

I turned off AutoSave, turned AutoSave back on again, and the AutoSave showed up under the Tools menu. So far, so good! However, every time I close out of Excel and go back in, I have to turn AutoSave off and back on again to get it to show up under the Tools menu, even though it's showing as being turned on under the Add Ins menu. Any ideas about how to avoid this? Thanks!

Something's affecting the Excel toolbar.

YOu can try renaming username.xlb file to something else at least temporarily to see if that helps. Rename it to .xlx or something other than xlb

I tried renaming all the .xlb files. This did not resolve the issue. I looked at another Win2K PC, and it had the same issue. I also uninstalled and re-installed Excel, and re-installed the AutoSave Add In. I still had this issue. I'm wondering if it's just a quirk in Office 2000. I told the user to save often!

"I told the user to save often!"

They should ALWAYS do that.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
You could try my Excel troubleshooting steps:

Perhaps there's something in their XLSTART folder. See the link.

Yeah, well you and I both know that what they SHOULD and what they DO are often not the same! Thanks for all your help!
