Hey all, I have a query. I'm working on a site that uses a .dwt template, now this is fine for the part that the other developer's are working on (plain html), but for me (an ASP forum), I'm not too sure.

What I wanted to ask was, can I attach an ASP page to the template ? i don't know if I can cos I don't have a license for dreaweaver, and all the other guys are off today (drinking guiness).

So, was just wonderin, if not, then I'll have to resort to sticking everything in iframe's or something.

Thanks in advance,

Damon

you can attach anything to a template- but DW doesn't see includes as templateable material. So I guess it depends on how you want to do it. Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

Ok, thanks for your answer.

So, in theory, could I have an asp page that was attached to the template, and then in the 'editable region' tag in the body could I then #include a file and it wouldn't make a difference ? I'd rather #include to keep the asp code seperate (habit), but I could just paste the code into the editable region.

Thanks agian,

Damon

A Dreamweaver template is a page created in Dreamweaver that has editable and non-editable regions; such templates provide their own restrictions, and are not controlled by the following editing preferences.

Allow unrestricted editing lets users modify any page elements that Contribute supports. This includes editing text, editing tables, and inserting images.
Protect scripts and forms prevents users from deleting script tags, server-side includes, code tags (such as Macromedia ColdFusion, ASP, JSP, and PHP tags), form tags, and form elements.
This option is activated by default. Carefully consider if the users editing your website’s content are experienced enough to modify code embedded in web pages. In general, tasks involving the modification of code and code tags are best left to web developers using Dreamweaver.
