Hi

Would anybody know what I require to download the lastest firmware for an Avaya ASBCE, I do not have an SSO.

My ASBCE is under a year old but my supplier has told me I was only entitled to download upgrades for 1 month after the purchase not 1 year.

I would like to upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3.

Could I purchase an Avaya Upgrade Advantage - New releases update - 1 year - for Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise Standard Services ( v. R6 ), would this give me access to the firmware through the support website.

Thanks

This is more of a question directed to your business partner or dist.

Hi smokinjoe2938

Thank you for taking your time to respond to my post but I really was looking for a more informed answer. My business partner was the first person I contacted but I feel we are being treated in a dishonest way.

We purchased this system under a year ago, he has now agreed to upgrade our ASBCE for a certain price which was agreeable to us but after this we were told that they will need to buy an extra support contact on our ASBCE to allow them to download the required software, the cost we are being quoted for this is extortionate.

We also have a yearly support agreement contract on all our Avaya equipment from this business partner.

I am really just looking for truthfull facts about what is required to download the ASBCE firmware as I don't have access to this information.

My main question would be is the firmware free for the first 12 months after purchase of an ASBCE or could my supplier purchase the Avaya Upgrade Advantage contract as this appears to be hugely different than the prices we are being quoted.

Hi Gunnar

We are being quoted 50% of the cost of the ASBCE, this does not equate to balancing the books but more price gouging.

Gunnar should my business partner not already have access to the software and have the credential level to access the software.

We are being charged two fees one to upgrade the ABBCE and the other to download the software, the fee to download the software alone is 50% of the cost of the ASBCE this really cannot be justified.

Because he has to buy the demo kit training bundle which gives you access to the software, courses and exams for this and many others, an IPO demo kit, a WLAN 8100, and an SBC.

I have it & the software, alas buddy, i'm not here to drum up business. Search the Avaya partner locator for a Silver or higher Bp in your area. This BP is probably at accredited level.

Gunnar you really make so many assumption's that really dont apply.

holdmusic34 thank you for your informative and helpfull answer.

Gunnaro you started making making statements and proposing reasons for something I was not asking, most people would ask for facts instead of replying with answers and assertions as if they had some specific insight into our businesses relationship with our bp and there business model.

My question was simple and I did not look for a imagined hypothesis on my bp's business model

Please stop hijacking this tread with nonsense.

You put in quite a few questions, but you pointed out this one to be the most important:

You said:
I am really just looking for truthfull facts about what is required to download the ASBCE firmware as I don't have access to this information.

And I gave you the answer

Me said:
Even if you had a basic SSO, you wouldn't get to download that.
To get access, you need to meet a certain credential level, i.e. take expensive courses.

But since you feel I hijacked your thread, I'll clean it up for you.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Hi Gunnaro

Your answer really was not helpfull to me and very vague.

holdmusic34 answered my question, I checked on the Avaya partner lookup and my bp only has accredited level so maybe he has not taken the expensive course you assumed he had taken

His suggestion to look for a bp with at least silver is the answer I needed.

Thanks

Ok enough.
