We have a few applications that we run in production and in test modes. The applications themselves are identical (ie same application and exe but different paths). We have setup the production and test applications in Citrix (for example one is Called Application Production and one is called Application Test; Application Production points to C:\Production, Application Test points to C:\Test).

When a user logs into either one of these, they have no idea which one they are really logged into. If I view the application in the toolbar, it says the name of the application from the exe. If I view the current connected via the program neighborhood connection centre, its shows the same.

Why does the application name that I setup in citrix not show as the connected application? We have no way of knowing what we are really logged into. This becomes really dangerous when a user thinks they are logged into the test application, but are really in the live.

When I am connecting, it says "connecting to " and then the application name that I gave it. As well, when I view the applications being used in the CMC, it shows them correctly. How can the client that is logged in really know what they are logged into by application name?

Why don't you rename the test exe ?

If I renamed our exe files for our applications, the applications wouldn't run (ie code inside application calls the exe).

What if the user opens the Program Neighborhood Connection Center from the systray? Would that tell them?

Same thing:

"If I view the current connected via the program neighborhood connection centre, its shows the same.

The name it displays is the name that the application display in its toolbar. For example, we have MS Excel published and its application name is "Excel" in CMC, but in the PNCC, it says "Microsoft Excel - Book 1." We cannot control how the application calls itself, but why can we not control what citrix itself calls it?

I suspect that even tho you can manipulate how the icon appears to the user you cannot kid citrix on that the exe is different.

The exe is not what appears.

For example

Great Plains' uses "Dynamics.exe" to run the app.
Shows as "Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains" in the Program Neighbourhood Connection Centre
Published Application Name is "eEnterprise"

Do you have any published applications that have different names? How does your client show them?
