Hi Everyone,
We are looking for Remote Alarm Monitoring service providers to monitor alarms on both of our Meridian 81C's. Does anyone have any info on these services? Any info you can pass along is greatly appreciated.
Thanks and Have a Great Weekend!!

yep the company i work for provides that service, with seb access to your switch, alarms are sent to the rmac center where they either dial in or dispatch your tech or ours if your in our service area. they do mon some switches ourside of the area but i don't know the criteria for such. if you need contact info, send an email

mr.jimenezdc just like johnpoole said you need a modem with the ability to notify you or somebody that their's a problem with your switch. A ipc modem or a seb modem will call you or your call center or any body to notify of alarms.I left a hundred guy's in Texas who can do this for $$$$.norteldude

norteldude,
Can you contact me regarding these "hundred guys" in Texas. I might be looking for some SEB-II help.

if you live in a bellsouth service area, we have a rmac center that is manned 7x24 for that service, sprint and a few other large service providers can offer the same in their area, we tend to work within our area because if it can't be fixed remotely we send a nortel tech to the site, unless you have different requirements..

Why don't you just use a Pollcat to monitor the PBX that sends you a page everytime a certain error or alarm (t1 down) (D-channel down) etc. This eliminates the monitoring service. Unless you like to sleep sound at night, this alternative is less expensive.

One other option, if you have an IP connection into the PBX, is to send SNMP traps to a monitoring station like HP Openview. There are several MIBS that allow OTM to do this for you, but you can also build your own MIBS to decipher the alarm the PBX is sending. You can even filter at the PBX level what alarms you want to send, as well as where they go.

Not as easy as the SEB or Pollcat approach, but if you already have an Openview product, much cheaper.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.

Jimenezdc,
Though Johnpoole is correct, you can alternatively use the OmniTronix SL-81, (rather than the SEB), in conjuction with AlarmTraq software with no need for an outside service company.

you don't need an outside vendor with a seb, you can set the alarm thresholds and notify string from the seb software. the ommitronix is a more flexable box
