Happens twice a week!!

2 internet connections. 2 xp servers with separate farms running the same app. Fault tolerance is the idea!

There are separate farms on each server. The reason I did this is because if one farm database fails I will have the other. I was thinking of putting both servers in the same farm but I don't like the idea of having one database that can fail and bring down both servers. Remember the published app is the same on both servers. So far I have redundant internet lines, redundant servers and redundant farms. The clients are coming on to both servers using 1494/1604 with the win2000 ica client. The clients use oen internet connection as the main and the other as the backup.

My problem is sometimes the application goes blank and that citrix server accepts connections but every connection thereafter gives a blank screen so I need to re-boot to fix the problem. I think this is because the citrix servers are getting confused with each other publishing the same app...

Any comments??

read the previous post to your original question about adding multipe nics and gateways.

This is a great reason why I mentioned, keep the farm as clean and as lean as possible.

if your primary Internet connection is a T1 for example and your backup is DSL, have your network guy set it up so that if the serial interface goes down on the T1, it will bring up the ethernet for the DSL and route traffic across that.

Basic Cisco routers can do this easily.

Don't put multiple nic's in unless you want to use them to do etherchannel or something.

that will actually improve your bandwidth and even give you redudancy if one nic fails!

I was looking more for an answer as to why the application is going blank. Citrix seems to falter when doing anything complicated, I think it is being confused somehow when this happens although I can not pin-point why???

Thanks for the network tips though, I am a CCIE so I have that covered, we need to use both the DSL and T1 because we also have redundant exchange servers with SMTP gateways pointing to different internet connections. The best network setup would be to use BGP but that is not in the cards yet.

I like the idea of using separate farms on 2 servers as my main farm failed on our SQL server before, so I would rather have 2 farms with separate databases running the same app(this is where I think the failure is coming from)... the farms are very simple with only 10 users on each with only 1 critical app on each... though the same app runs on both....

any help with the blank screen would be appreciated....
