Has anyone had any success connecting to a Definity via the netcon channels? I am sick of the INADS port always being busy (we have several people who work with our switch on a regular basis). Following the advice of previous posts, I created a hunt group with the netcon channels added, etc. I then dial the lead extension of the hunt group from within ProComm Plus. I am using a standard analog extension at my desk with a modem attached. I can reach the netcon channels and hear negotiation BUT THEN I GET GARBLED CHARACTERS ON MY SCREEN and the session disconnects. Should I be able to do what I am trying? Should I be using different parameters for the session properties than when connecting to the INADS port (i.e. protocol, speed, etc.). Please advise.

You need to use a Data Module at your PC instead of a modem. You can use either a 7400A or B (4-wire (TN754)) or an 8400B (2-wire). Set up ProComm or Terranova or ASA to dial the lead number of the netcon hunt group. Terranova and ASA ARE CAPABLE OF LOGGING YOU IN AS WELL.

Yeah, I thought a data module was needed, but I ran across a post in this forum where someone referenced using a standard analog modem. In fact he said he had it working at 32 locations! Another user then added something about using a specific Hayes string when dialing to make it work, etc. So, I realize that Avaya wants a data module, etc., but I thought maybe somebody in the forum may know of a hack to avoid using a data mod. THANKS for replying.

Here is the thread I was referencing above where a user has it working, etc.
