I am very new to the Norstar System and we have one remote location that use this system. they are requesting to add a new phone in their desk. Could someone help me with the step? below are the information that I have.
-Norstar M8x24
-Phone:M7310
-POTS
-I saw that there are 24 ports but there are 5 ports that have been wired.
-There are currently only using 2 phones/2 ports.
-I moved one of the phone to one of the unused port and the phone is working as usual. (Something to do with set relocation)

I am not very clear about the set relocation.
Can i try to buy a brand new M7310 and plug in to one of the unused port? to see if all of the 5 ports have been programmed the same.

Please help, thank you

I am not clear on what your asking but think you want to add a phone?
Yes just punch it down on a port and hope it's programmed.

if not call a vendor to have a tech to program it.

Set relocation is used to have memory at the phone or at the jack.

Yes, I want to add a new phone for this location, above is only the information that i have.

Do i have to do something with the set relocation thing?

So, the programming is programmed on the port, right?

The programming is programmed to the DN which resides on a port.

Set relocation is just so you can move phone around and have the phone keep its memory and DN.

The new phone should come up on any of the 24 station ports, but as curly was saying, you may have some programming involved to get the set working the way you want it to.

By default, the phone will come up Appear and Ring for lines 1 & 2, 2 intercom paths, and handsfree disabled.

Use feature *0 to determine how the buttons are programmed, and label/change accordingly.

Is that possible that the new phone will come up with the same programming of the existing phones (not the basic default programming)?

I did try moving one of the exiting phone to the unused jack and the programming does not changed.

Yes it is possible.

Once you plug in phone press F*0 and press all the buttons to see what they do...Intercom button will tell you what ext you at.

I delivered the phone today and it was plug and worked. I check the intercom # and it seems that those 5 ports has been programmed with intercom 101, 102, 103, 104 and 105.

But i tried to get into the config by hit **config and config but the password is incorrect. I guess I have to do some password recovery since we do not know who maintain the system last time
