Morning all, I'm in a delimma, we have an entire exchange of DID's and we have a new facility opening up that chose the 9xxx range for their extensions. I wasn't thinking clearly when I told yes they could have it. Anyway, is there a good, "clean" method to incorporate the 9xxx range and 9 as a FAC to work together? Any & all help is greatly appreciated.

I work at a carrier, and most of the time, we are requested to change the leading 9 to something else. So, for example, if the DID range is 9XXX, we will send 5XXX as DNIS. Eliminates a lot of problems. Not sure if this method will work for you or not, just a thought.

Rule #1 when buying DID's. Never take ones that start with 0 ,1, or 9. Digit conversion is your best option at this point.

Phoneguy55, I do abide by that rule. However, these DID'd where purchased prior to my arrival here. What do you suggest along the lines of digit conversion?

I am pretty sure that you do not have to use the 9 for your ARS access code as we have used 8 as a secondary code. You may want to check into this a little more.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

I can think of 3 options.

Option 1. Change the FAC for ARS to 8.
Option 2. Digit Conversion, changing 9XXX to XXXX.
Option 3. Get new DID's.

Made changes to the incoming call handling treatment on the trunk group for the conversion, as now I'll only have to worry about 2 numbers as I got them to choose another DID range. It's working pretty good. Thanks for all of the replies.

From what I understand the new CM 4.0 will allow you to use the same number for FAC and extensions without any other special parameters.

you can also change the 9xxx to xxxx with the incoming call treament on the trunk group.

Thanks for the info. Once I calmed down, I changed the incoming call treatment on the trunk group. We've got an upgrade to CM 4.0 scheduled for later in the year. I also hear that it's going to make firmware updates easier as well.

Has anyone heard or read anything on this about CM 4.0? I read the initial stuff on Avaya's website but didn't see anything on this point.
