Account Codes - Automatic

Have a customer that would like to automatically dial an account code for numbers that they frequently call. Can this be accomplished via a short code speed dial or some other method?

The Help Field is a bit confusing:
- Caller ID: A caller ID can be entered and used to automatically assign an account code to calls made to or received from caller ID.
I'm confused by the "..calls made to..." part of the description. Does this mean that the account code will be assigned to the CDR for the call if it matches the Caller ID? That doesn't really help me if I have "Force Account Code" ticked off for the User.

Are you saying there is a way to have a Directory Speed Dial that includes the DID and the account code?

I did look at the Directory. What specifically are you proposing?

you can try building the speed dial with the telephone number followed by a series of commas (each comma = one second pause), followed by the account code.

Still trying to come up with a solution for this customer. They want to be able to incorporate the account code into the speed dial for certain numbers that they call frequently.

Define speed dial in your scenario as the IPO doesnt technically do speed dials.

If the number is in the directory, then you should just be able to add a new entry to the account codes section and then enter that number under Caller ID. Then when that number is called either manually dialled or via the directory it should automatically append the account code to that call.

It is also important to know if you're describing Account Code within IPO, or an account code required by the carrier. They're handled very differently.

Still looking for a solution for this. The customer is on Release 9.1 and is using 9608G IP Phones. They want to be able to "speed dial" customers that they call frequently without having to manually input the account code. However, they do need an account code for call accounting purposes. Any ideas are appreciated.

You haven't clarified what you were asked to, also adding the clients numbers against an account code will automatically apply it, did you even try that?

Just enter the outgoing number in the account code entry field for exactly that and see what happens. You might just find out that the manual is right.

Yes I have plugged in other phones to the same user port, and they all work just fine.

Or tell your customer to find a competent maintainer, if you cant follow this simple setup after 2 years it is worrying, although you did at lease check the help files so there is some hope.


just to spell it out in simple terms one more time

go to account codes, there are only 2 fields Account code & CLI - enter the CLI for the customer into the CLI field (as displayed on the inbound calls) in the account code field enter the account code to be displayed.

if you are using a prefix for outgoing calls then you may* need to create a 2nd entry that includes the prefix



This depends on exactly how well you have configured your lines & Ars.
