Our HP Color LaserJet 5500 prints out the Supplies Status Page with the following info:

ATTENTION: A non Hewlett-Packard supply has been detected. Certain features (such as remaining toner volume data) may not be available as a result of using this non Hewlett-Packard supply.

The above info is displayed against EVERY colour toner cartridge installed in the printer.

The toners we use are ALL new HP original ones so I know its a printer issue. If I take the toners out and put them into a Color LaserJet 5550 they are immediately recodnised as originals no problem.

Anybody else seen this problem ?

Yep! saw it on a number of HP CLJ4600's.

In the case of the above, it was a firmware bug, which stopped all the cartridges from being recognised as genuine HP units.

The following link is for the latest firmware for your printer. Upgrade to this and give it a try.

BTW, the different versions are for what OS you are using to upgrade the firmware, the firmware is all the same version.
