I think this might be just a bad handset but anyway I have a 9640 attached to version 6.0 ip500 unit evry other ip phone is fine (this is the only 9640). I get bursts of white noise when Im talking, if im silent then there is no interference. Any ideas?

Bad cabling ?
Power cables along the utp cables ?
If it is powered with a brick instead of POE then put it on the other lan port of the ipo and try again.

TommMills we are recording calls using contact center..

If it does then try this settings:

For the VCM settings:

-Set Nonlinear Processor Mode disabled to adaptive.
-Set NLP Comfort Noise Ceiling to -55

In NO User --- source number

Put the below string

CONFERENCE_DSP_TX_GAIN=-4

Then you need to reboot the ipoffice.

Well disabling the call recording seemed to do the trick.. not tried the settings above but will do tomorrow.

Out of interest why does the call recording not affect our other ip phones (1608s I think)??

No idea at all.
Sometimes you just do not want to know why :)

no worries. as to why, i seem to remember MattKnight posting that they changed the way call recording works from 4.0 and every so often it causes this issue.

I used to have it on my 1616, couldn't be bothered to fix it as it only affected me, somewhere between 5 and 6 it fixed itself.

other 1616s on my system didn't have the issue at all. it's very very hit and miss.

how about checking the Codec the phone is set to? perhaps its different to the rest, maybe this is the factor that causes the issue?
