8mb Excel file takes 10 mins to open. why?

i have an excel workbook that is 8mb in size. It takes 10 mins for the workbook to open. i have look around on the net for answers but all i get is 'turn of antivirus scanning in nortons'

i run AVG on my XP machine with office XP, thinkin this was the problem i delete AVG antivirus off my machine but the file still takes 10 mins to load.

i have taken this file into work and tried opening it on a windows 2000 laptop with ms office 2003 and it opens up within seconds.

does anyone know why it takes so long to open the file up on Xp OS?

Make sure you have enough RAM.

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.

thank, i think i have solved the problem. it was my office updates, i wasn't running the latest updates, once i had updated my office updates the file opened within seconds
