Is it OK to mix 3 & 4 digit ext numbers on the IPO(its a version 5.0)
I have 2 customers that are going to be sharing the system and they want to take their existing ext. numbers with them, 1 has 1xx and the other has 5xxx.
Different extension lengths will work just fine. You may run into challenges with certain auto attend scenarios, but nothing that can't be overcome. This assumes that you're not running call center software. Remember that the system really doesn't provide true tenant service - no good way to prevent users from calling each other, etc.

I would always use the same extension lenght.
You also need the same no answer timers (and other timers)
It can cause very strange issues if you do not follow the rules.
programmed correctly the IPO will even cope with clashing number ranges:-
20-29
200-299
2000-2999
number in the above ranges can all be configured on the same switch (after taking config size limits into account obviously)
extn 20 will not cause any issues for extn 200, unlike many other systems
I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!
Thank you all for your input! I think in my case it will be a safe play to go with extensions 101-199 for the main tenant and extensions 5100-5199 for the 2nd tenant. it is a very basic system with no auto attendant or CCC.
