I have just received an IPO 406v2 running 3.2(17) and everything works great. if I plug in the Digital station 16 to expansion port 1 using the supplied cable, and plug in a phone(5410d);
The Phone powers up,
The screen says please wait.
The expansion unit shows up in the manager app.
The phones never get past "Please wait" and Show version 2.00 at the top of the screen.

The expansion unit says it is revision 4.1 when I run the upgrade wizard, but it will not allow me to upgrade the unit (it is greyed out). Please tell me I am missing a simple step here. I am used to working in a complete IP environment so this is a little new to me.

It sounds like you are running an older version of IP OFFICE Manager. If you haven't already, try downloading the current version of Administration Maintenance Software for IPO.

The manager is the one that came with 3.2

Check working directories of manager.

If your plug the 5410 phone right into the 406..what happens?? The 54xx Extensions require a tftp to download the latest firmware...so with that said...check your tftp ip address in manager under system.

The 5410D works perfectly when plugged into the 406. I will check the tftp server setting.

TFTP server setting was correct. So the digital sets also download firmware updates?

I have some silly questions:

Did you connect the expnasion unit when IPO was powered off?
If not, did you reboot the system after connecting it?
Did the expansion unit register in Manager?
Are the exentsion numbers set on the expansion unit ports?

Do you have a Red Light on the DS16 module, sounds like it doesn't start up right and that's why you can't upgrade it using your Manager.

You could try to erase the software on the module using a DTE cable and get it to load the new software through TFTP.

i have a digital station 30 that got it's software hosed up by the AT-X2 and AT-X3 command being done on it. Now it just sits there sending out TFTP request but it can't be recognized by the 412. It has a constant red light.

I know the software on it is hosed, but it sounds like from your post above that you know how to put that back on...how do you do it?

much appreciated.

Is your manager and the IPO on the same address range? The only time I've seen this not work is when the PC and The IPO were on different ranges.

i wonder if the 406 was properly upgraded to 3.2 in the first place since it is not showing the option to upgrade the exp module in the wizard as grayed out.

What is your working directory set to?

Select View TFTP Log in Manager and see why it is not downloading the file.
It either can't find the file, or can't send it.
The Prefernces will need to be 255.255.255.255 and the working directory correct.

did you use the blue cable that came with it ?
otherwise it won't work (well)

I did the AT-X command on a DS30 about a year and a half ago when it was faulting, it was a lot of hassle but after a while it picked up the .bin file from my laptop and booted up again.

I first had to remove all phones from the module, also check that you have a new power supply for the DS30 so it's not also affected by the earlier problem with rebooting DS30 modules.
