IP500v2 system, R8.1(63). The customer is telling me their receptionist 1416 phone is showing as "Locked", and it won't ring or let her page, although it will let her receive calls. Of course, the receptionist says she didn't do anything to lock it and doesn't know the unlock code (they've tried 1234 and a few other combinations). Short of sending out a tech to unlock it via Manager, is there a way to unlock it from another phone? I read some IPO literature that said the first two phones on the system could unlock other phones without the unlock code - is this true, and if so how would I go about that? The literature didn't provide the steps, only that it was possible. Thanks in advance.

When your phone is locked:

• It can only be used to make internal and emergency calls.
• None of the menus for your user settings can be accessed.
• To unlock the phone requires your login code if you have configured a login code.

Press Unlock, enter the login code set in Manager for that user on the Telephony tab.

If the system is running in one of the Basic Edition modes then yes, the first two extensions can unlock other extensions.

Sadly not if the system is running in other modes (in some ways would have been nice if the designers had made knowing the code necessary to lock the phone or set the autolock feature)

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
