Which TTY are you trying to enable? If you are trying to enable a TTY with the CTYP = PTY you will not be able to do this. It always shows disabled unless it is in use.

Trying TTY 0,1,2, have not been able to enable, this started a couple of days ago, i checked the status this morning and they were all enabled, checked at lunch, all disabled???

No qsdi cards, would have to say paddle board.

There is a togle switch on the board. Check to see if it is in the up position.

Where exactly is this paddle board located?

It will be in the back of one of your core shelves. If you have a maint contract or warranty I would call your vendor as this card can cause problems if not maintained correctly. For example if it is unplugged or plugged in without disabling the card you can reload the switch.

is this a CS1000E/ Option 11? does it hang on the wall?
If so you may have a bad SSC card.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Ace the ports are programmed as QSDI. This tells me it is a CS1000m single or multi group.

It is rack mounted, dual CPU, 7 sig servers, 4 mg cabinets.
The MG cabinets remind me of a opt 11 mini turned side ways,i noticed the mg cabinets have SDI ports om the back, can you not access com 2 of the active CPU for remote access and if so where is this defined.

You should be able to access both tty ports on the active core. One is TTY 4 and the other is TTY 5. Do you have PIV processors. If so one is DCE the other port is DTE. You will need a modem eliminator for the other port unless you are plugging it into a modem.

On tty 0 you have XSM set to Yes, I don't think 1000E has that option, the COM1 and COM2 connectors are on the Front of the CPU card (PIV), and the COM1 on the back of the MG cabinet is used for maint, but its one tty only.....

Was this an upgrade? Could this be something left over from an upgrade from a 1000M Multigroup system?

Thanks for everyones input, much appreciated. Yes this has PIV processors, no it wasn t an upgrade, its the 4.5 with the E and 2 Ts, I had the Maint contractor on site today, they were not the ones who installed it but were involved in the sales end, the company that installed it did a horrible job, alot was left uncompleted.I was told i would probably require an MRV unit but they would have to do some digging to be sure, still does not tell me why the TTY ports are going up and down like a old ho#$% nickers, well its been a long day, time to go, i will let you know the out come.

PS
The name of that company that did the install starts with an N and ends with a L

With the 4.5 application you have here you do need a MRV if you need Serial TTY ports.

As for the TTY's disabling,,,TTY 0 thru 3 are on a paddle board and that option is not available on this platform. What probably happened was the installed chose to install the default database instead of the basic configuration and it added these tty ports.

I realize this is off topic, do i still require a ring gen card for the analog card on this system????

Where is the paddle board on a CS1000E? TTY 0 is associated with the mgc card.
